Purification Process

Our purification system (removing H2O, N2, THC, and other impurities) operates in multiple stages, each adding a layer of technology to increase purity. High-level hydrogen purification is a specialty of Leman Instruments, utilizing technologies like Permeation by inner pressure, Smart H2PSA, and Smart Pulsed H2PSA. Without heating the hydrogen (no hot PD catalysis), we achieve the highest purities at impressive flow rates.

Proton Exchange Membrane

Hydrogen is produced by breaking down water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen through electrolysis, occurring within a Proton Exchange Membrane inside the generator. This process produces very pure hydrogen streams since it involves no air or hydrocarbon components. The key to maintaining high-quality hydrogen and long generator life is using high-quality water. Only deionised water or water with a conductivity of 1 microSiemens or a resistivity of 15 MegaOhm or better should be used.
